the perfect sandwich, grilled cheese edition

After recovering from a serious case of pickiness I was introduced to a whole host of flavors, textures and aromas I had never even dreamt existed. So me and the kindergarten grilled cheese are taking a break while I go on to explore more mature versions of the same great sandwich.

I've recently found my soul-mate, at least in the grilled cheese sense. Nick and Sam's Grill has a grilled cheese that's all grown up (hence the name). Picture this: sourdough bread, comte cheese, pears and smoked ham, grilled perfectly- crisp on the outside and soft and melted on the inside. And to make it even better they serve it with a cup of tomato basil soup, perfect for dipping, and a green salad that lightens up the dish with it's cold and crisp contrast. The restaurant itself isn't too bad either. It's situated in the heart of Uptown. During the day the huge french doors are open to the patio, so no matter where you sit in the restaurant you can catch a glimpse of downtown Dallas. My only regret is that I love this grilled cheese so much, I've never tried anything else.
